My French Love Letter

Travel/Street

Very spontaneously I decide to go to Paris to enjoy a four day walk about and get lost in the city. The train ride from where I live to Paris is a short four hours, but yet due to the spontaneity of the decision, I found myself rushing out of the house in order to not miss one of the four trains that depart Germany enroute there. I’d made this trip many times and knew that I didn’t need much and therefore didn’t pack very much. I had everything I needed except some rolls of Tri-X I needed for my camera. When I boarded the train I thought to myself how wonderful of a thing it would be to shoot what I saw in color this time. I did just that and captured my long weekend with Portra 400, that something I’ll do more often.

The weather was pretty cold but that didn’t stop me from walking almost 20 miles each day down this street and that alley. When I got tired I’d pop into a cafe and have a drink and continue on after an hour. I remember the last night speaking to a gentlemen at the hostel I was staying in. He asked me what I was doing in Paris everyday and I told him just wandering. He responded saying”Oh, I thought you were just writing a long love letter” as he would see me write in my journal every night. He was right though. This is my French Love Letter.
